E-Bar Homepage

Home Directory

Your home directory is the place in which you should store all of your data. It is shared amongst all databars, which means you can access your files regardless of which computer/databar you are using.

Windows

In Windows, your home directory is made accessible via the U: drive. Furthermore, your My Documents and Desktop folders are redirected to your home directory, such that the files you store in these locations are available on all E-Bar computers as well as from other databars.

The following table summarizes the folders which are redirected to your home direcotry. The ~ character represents the root of your home directory.

Folder:Redirected To:
• U:\~/
• My Documents~/
• Desktop~/.EBAR/Desktop

Accessing your files remotely

You can access the files in your home directory from home using several methods:

  • FTP: This is the easiest way, but it is also very insecure and might compromise your DTU password.
Open the following location in your web browser and enter your DTU username and password when requested: ftp://ftp.student.dtu.dk
  • SSH: This is secure but requires you to download an SSH client. Windows users can use WinSCP?. Connect to one of the databar servers, e.g. poulsen.ebar.dtu.dk or bohr.gbar.dtu.dk using your DTU username and password.
